Moneyline Betting College Football
Another way to bet college football games is to do so using the moneyline. These bets are wagers in which your betting on one side or the other but with no point spread. In order to compensate for the spread, odds are applied to each side to make it fair. The skill in betting the money line in college football is to try and avoid pitfalls when backing the favorites and to zero in on upsets to cash in on spots where you believe the underdog will rise up. Because the majority of spreads end up being double-digits at this level, money lines for favorites are often very high. Football Moneyline Betting NFL or college football moneyline betting sounds like a fancy term, but its actually the simplest form of football wagering. You don’t have to worry about the point spread, you just need your team to win the game. And it has been the most popular way to bet on baseball and hockey for years, so its nothing new.
We are coming off of another winning week and are 5-1 over the last two with three of those being underdog moneyline winners! Let’s do it all over again and keep busting our bookmakers!

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Illinois Fighting Illini
Saturday, October 31, 2020 – 12:00 PM ET at Memorial Stadium
Purdue enters this matchup hot off the heels of an impressive 24-20 win over Iowa. They not only covered as three-point home dogs for those who backed the Boilermakers in their college football picks, but also cashed on the moneyline with their outright victory.
While Purdue was busy salting away their season opener, their conference rivals from Illinois had already seen their first action of the season on Friday night. As most of you know, the Big Ten initially canceled the season, but subsequently reversed its decision which has led to a late start. Illinois was dispatched in short order by No. 9 Wisconsin, 45-7, and failed to cover despite being given a 21-point head start.
Laying the lumber on the road is not a recipe for long term success, but handicapping is all about picking your spots. The point spread has risen from Purdue -5 to -7 at many of the top online sportsbooks, and the moneyline is still fairly generous at the time of this writing. This allows us to lay well under 2-1 for a hefty favorite and avoid all of the landmines that can befall us in laying the points and getting nipped by 7, 6, 4, and 3, to name the most critical numbers.

Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Louisville Cardinals
College Football Moneyline Odds
Saturday, October 31, 2020 - 4:00 PM ET at Cardinal Stadium
If you have been tailing me in this column throughout the season, you know quite well my penchant for moneyline winners rests with the underdogs. However, I am casting my fortunes with another favorite because getting a superior team to win outright, without worrying about any backdoor covers by the opposition, is always a good thing.
In this case, we will have a team with revenge on its mind to atone for the sins of Week 7, when the Hokies were unceremoniously dumped by Wake Forest, 23-16, as 10 ½ point road chalk. Meanwhile, the Cardinals had their best performance of the season when they ripped Florida State 45-16, and easily covered the college football odds as five-point home favorites.
The public has a short memory. Their “what have you done for me lately” mentality does not account for anomalies or bad days. They take what they saw the week before, etch it in their minds, and that becomes their comprehensive measure of the teams each week. However, now that we have had several weeks to evaluate both V-Tech and Louisville, we know the former is not nearly as bad, nor is the latter nearly as good, as they played last week.
Best Moneyline Bets College Football Week 5
The sharp money is moving Virginia Tech from 2 ½ to as high as 3 ½ point favorites as of this early week writing. However, the moneyline has not quite caught up, which is fine by us. Therefore, let’s lay the small price on the Hokies to get an outright victory.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Virginia Cavaliers
Saturday, October 31, 2020 - 8:00 PM ET at Scott Stadium
It looks like there is a world of difference between these two ACC rivals, as the Tar Heels are 4-1 while the Cavaliers are 1-4 on the young season. However, if we look at the stats, there isn’t all that much separating the teams, which is why I believe there is plenty of value to be had with Virginia as home dogs to bite back and win this one outright.
North Carolina is not the same dominating team on the road as they are at home. Consider that the Heels barely got by Boston College a few weeks ago, when they outlasted the Eagles, 26-22 at Chestnut Hill, as 14 ½ point favorites. Also, let’s look at their latest road tilt when they traveled to Tallahassee and dropped a 31-28 decision to Florida State as 13 ½ point road chalk two weeks ago.
Let’s head on over to BetOnline and slurp upall that juice on the Hokies and watch them score an upset, on Saturday.
